RIP Petri

Aye me!  This post comes with some heartache.  A post of remembrance, if you will.
On November 5th, 2011, our dear friend and pet, Petri died at a premature of unknown causes.  If you know my sister, give her a big hug when you see her.  After five years, we have all felt Petri has become a part of the Russell family.  It is sad to see him go, but he will be remembered.
May the spirit of Petri live forever!

Dallas, Here I Come.

On my way to Dallas to join my family and friends in the celebration of the soon-to-be Joseph and Callie Shumate!!! It is so close and I realize that I have fully entered into the wedding portion of my life. I am excited for this phase. Let it begin.

Come On Anthro.

Alright, so the other day I went to go see Sheila Hicks' exhibition and was truly amazed at her work over the last 50 years.  If you haven't looked her up yet, do it NOW.  She is incredible.
The real point is... the other day, I, an Anthropologie rewards customer, received an email about their latest window displays.  I can't help it but I got very angry upon reading their inspiration page and the reasons why they did what they did!  They talked mainly of the gourds and nothing, I repeat NOTHING, about the window's obvious connection to Sheila's work.  This makes me a little disappointed in Anthro- just give the fibers genius some recognition.  Come on now.

Payton Turner Revisited

She has done it again.  Turns out, Payton and her husband, Brian, have their own shared wallpaper company.  It is all so great and they will even do custom wallpaper if you email them what you want- a wall of sequins, stickers, animals, family, design, YOU NAME IT! Check  out their website, Flat Vernacular.  When I get my own place, I'll be filling at least one room with one of their wallpapers... it will be my "special" room.

Andrea Aranow

In case you are ever confused at what exactly a fibers major could do with their life, check out this video of Andrea Aranow.  She is a textiles collector and clothing designer who designed for Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, and the house of Alexander McQueen.  Everything is so beautiful.

Corn Maze

A week ago, I was researching some fun holiday adventures to embark upon and stumbled upon a corn maze!  I have always heard of these but figured it didn't exist, but IT DOES! IT REALLY DOES! Yesterday, a few close friends and I ventured a little outside Savannah to go to "10 acres of fun."  You may ask what does 10 acres consist of?  I'll tell you. Hog races, goats, hot dogs, and corn- LOTS OF CORN!  Here are a few pictures I took from the day.  When you get lost, what are you supposed to do except take pictures, right?

Kate Pugsley

Kate Pugsley switches off between animal and human portraits.  They all are so lovely with just a hint of sadness.  Ahhhh. They are beautiful.
